The Dingle Peninsula is not merely a place to visit —it is a place to experience!
Two Day Photographic Workshops on the beautiful Dingle Peninsula:-
Experience the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula with award winning photographer John Hooton. John has an intimate knowledge of locations from sunrise to sunset gained over many years of photographing the area. The Dingle peninsula is renowned for its wealth of unspoilt scenery. From the majestic Conor Pass to the rugged Slea Head drive, miles of ever changing beaches and historic monastic sites offer the photographer ample opportunity to capture one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations. These workshops aim to help the photographer with the principles of composition and exposure when it comes to landscape photography. We look at photographing landscapes with wide angle lenses and seek out of the way places less visited by crowds. You will be part of a small, friendly and enthusiastic group of photographers which ensures that everyone will receive individual attention and learn at their own pace. Having photographed the Dingle Peninsula extensively over the past 20 years, I am confident that you will benefit greatly from the knowledge I have gained about the area.
It is strongly recommended that everyone attending these workshops comes prepared for the unpredictable Irish weather!! Some of the best photos are to be taken “off the beaten track” therefore wellies and rain wear are a must. Good walking boots and warm clothing are also essential. A sturdy tripod is a main part of the equipment you will need. Also, a good idea is a rugsack for your camera, lenses, filters etc. We will be spending time on the beach so don’t be afraid to get sandy! Every participant should have a good working knowledge of their equipment.
The timetable for each weekend varies according to the weather but as a rough guide, participants should arrive by 8.00 p.m. on the Friday night when John will give a run through of the weekend activities. Saturday morning will begin with a short lecture from John showing some of his images and discussing light etc and the techniques he uses. Then its out to the first location. There will be a break for tea during the morning then its on to the second location. Following a lunch break of approximately 2 hours we will continue on to more locations finishing up on Slea Head for the sunset. On arrival back at the house there will be light refreshments and John will then give another short talk and there will be a discussion on the days events. Sunday morning begins early and we will be up for the sunrise. There will be a break for tea and then our final destination will be some of the monastic sites on the peninsula.
